We now offer a fully licenced and vet approved dog boarding service at our home in Deal which is a great alternative to kennels. We normally only accept one or two dogs at any one time so that your dog can continue to receive all the individual care, love and attention it needs while you are away. We home board puppies through to adult dogs, big or small, and usually from 7 days to 3 weeks for full boarding. We also offer a dog daycare service too.
When in our care we will maintain your dog’s daily routine including regular walks, attention and affection, games and mental stimulation. In our home your dog with have its own sleeping area, a warm, calm, quiet environment, home creature comforts, a secure garden and room to move around freely.
Our Free Consultation
We invite all owners and their dog(s) to visit us for a Meet & Greet before a booking, so you can see our premises and talk through any concerns or questions. This allows us to understand you and your dog(s) individual needs and arrange the best possible stay for them, whether they are coming for home dog boarding or dog day care.
This is completely free and doesn’t put you under any obligation to use our services.
Booking Our Dog Boarding Service
Once you are happy we can book in your dog(s). At this point we will ask you to complete some paperwork for us which is a requirement of our dog boarding licence. We will also ask for a deposit comprised of 50% of the total boarding fee which is non-refundable.

Our Dog Boarding Policies and Procedures
1.1 A 'Meet & Greet' consultation is required, prior to reservations, FOR ALL NEW CLIENTS.
1.2 As a rule, we only board dogs for a maximum period of 21 days and for a minimum period of 7 days (unless it is dog daycare). Where we are able, we will lower the minimum 7 day period to suit our client's specific needs.
1.3 All our services are charged at day rate (max 9hrs winter, max 12hrs summer) or overnight rate (max 24hr). Additional hours beyond the period of stay are charged at £1 per hour.
1.4 Bank Holidays, Christmas, New Year and Easter may incur additional fees which the client will be advised of at the time of booking.
1.5 Normally, all bookings must be made at least 2 weeks before arrival date for new clients and 1 week before arrival date for existing clients.
1.6 Upon booking a non-refundable deposit must be paid comprised of 50% of the total boarding fee.
1.7 We do not accept dogs that have not been neutered unless with prior agreement (e.g. if the dog is a puppy and too young to be neutered).
2.1 In the event of cancellations that are notified to us up to 48 hours before the start of the booking period, all fees less the 50% non-refundable deposit, will be refunded.
2.2 All bookings cancelled within 48 hours of the start of the booking period will be payable in full.
2.3 If we cannot provide the service agreed, we will do our best to arrange an alternative, unless in extreme circumstances, where we will endeavour to give 24 hours' notice.
3. AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS
3.1 We will not accept aggressive dogs.
3.2 The client agrees to be responsible for all costs (including but not limited to medical care, legal fees, etc.) if the client's dog(s) should bite another animal.
3.3 Client agrees that on booking services for their dog(s) that they have represented that the dog(s) to have not shown aggression or caused harm, or threatening behaviour to any individual and/or any pet(s), and the client agrees to contact the provider as soon as possible if any of these behavioural changes presents itself or if it has the potential to cause harm to any individual or pet(s).
3.4 We will not board unruly or untrained dogs.
3.5 If the client's dog(s) whilst being boarded shows aggressive tendencies towards us, or should its behaviour become unacceptable or a nuisance beyond reasonable acceptance, the client agrees that he/she be placed either with the emergency contact or in a boarding kennel, until the client returns, and this will be subject to a transfer charge.
4. UNFORESEEN PURCHASES
4.1 In the event that additional items need to be purchased in the absence of the client – i.e. pet food or other necessary items that contribute to the health and wellbeing of your dog, we will purchase these, retain a receipt and the client is responsible for reimbursement of these items on their return.
5.1 Please inform us of any changes regarding your contact numbers, your dog's care needs, your emergency contact details and other pertinent information.
5.2 Where requested, we use WhatsApp to give our clients personal video updates of their dog(s). Updates can also be provided on our Facebook page for those clients that do not have access to WhatsApp.
6.2 We will only collect the personal information necessary to enable us to carry out the services we have agreed to provide you. This includes your contact details, your address, details of your pet’s specific needs, your pet’s veterinary information in case of an emergency.
6.3 All your personal information will be recorded on paper forms which we fill in during our first consultation meeting with you. Personal information is only recorded with your explicit consent. These paper forms are then stored securely. We don’t keep any personal information electronically and will never share this personal information with a third party except with a named vet, agreed in advance with you, in the event of an emergency.
7.1 All reasonable care is taken to ensure the integrity and suitability of the care provided.
7.2 We have valid public liability insurance, as required by the terms of our Dover District Council dog boarding licence. Copies of the insurance documentation and our licence are displayed prominently on our premises.
7.3 We require that clients purchase their own separate pet insurance and provide us with documentary proof of this.
8. MEDICATION / VACCINATIONS / IMMUNISATIONS
8.1 We will follow instructions to administer medications as directed but cannot be held responsible for complications that arise as a result.
8.2 Under no circumstances will we board any dog that has any form of active contagious illness.
8.3 We require a copy of a valid vaccination certificate.
8.4 If we are bitten or exposed to any disease or ailment received from the client's dog(s), the client will be responsible for all costs and damages that may be incurred as a result.
9. COLLARS / LEADS
9.1 Please provide secure collars with appropriate tags for all visits.
10. CHANGES TO RETURN DATE
10.1 We schedule carefully our time to serve you and our other clients, therefore, there are no refunds or credits for early returns or last minute changes to pet care.
10.2 In the event that the client is delayed on return, they must inform us immediately, and we will use our best endeavours to make alternative arrangements for continued cover, even when we are unable to continue with care following the assignment end date.
10.3 Dogs must be collected/dropped off within our opening hours.
11.1 We accept cash/cheque/bank transfer. Cheques made payable to Hella's Happy Hounds.
11.2 A 50% deposit of the total sum due is payable to us at the time of booking.
11.3 The remaining balance is due 7 days before the first date of the booking. At this point the client will receive a phone call from us to confirm the booking and remaining balance.
11.4 Where payment is not received in accordance with these terms and conditions of business, we reserve the right not to proceed with any previously agreed arrangements, and a cancellation fee will be payable.
12.1 We shall not be liable to the client or be deemed to be in breach of the contract by reason of any delay in performing, or any failure to perform, any of our obligations in relation to the services, if the delay or failure was due to any cause beyond our reasonable control.
13. OTHER RESIDENT DOGS
Please note your dog may be boarded with our resident dog as well as other dogs using our services. Maximum numbers of dogs in the household are strictly limited. Your dog will be socialised as per information provided by you.
